Snake VS Snake....Hiiiissssss!
The Fury hit town last Friday and the
AFL’s number one passer, Andy Kelly of
Detroit added more yards and points to his
already exceptional total. When the game
was over and after having watched it from
several spots in the arena I was
convinced, as were many other writers that
the team was in trouble. That coach White
was not getting the job done. I left AWA
feeling that way. After all, in what was
to be the Title Season, nothing that went
up came down. Confused so was I, the team
had not started this badly since the team
first started.
I found myself thinking, "Where is
Chris Horn when you need him?". But then I
went to practice a couple of times this
week and talked to coaches and players.
Now, I am certain that this start is a
blessing in disguise for the veteran team.
While LA is celebrating it’s "domination"
and Detroit is polishing it’s armor, the
Rattler veterans have already forgotten
this game and the pre-season one last
week.
Coach White and the "too old veterans"
as they are being called are far from done
in yet. For the Detroit game I picked the
Rattlers by three touchdowns to win. You
can see it went the other way. The first
two games saw LA and Detroit take away the
short passing game from Arizona. Bonner is
one of the few QB’s in the league that has
an effective underneath game. He is one of
the few that can pull it off. In the
process it looked as if bad design,
defective play calling and old players
might be the problem.
Here’s the deal, the Rattlers travel to
Carolina to play the scorching hot Cobras
in the Carolina "Snakepit". If you recall,
the Cobras went 0-16 last year. I do
believe that Bonner, Cooper, Tucker,
Gatewood, Morris, Kelly, and the rest of
the Copper Tops still got game. So, I am
going with the facts, sorry if you
disagree. The Rattlers will come home with
a win and yes they will be in the Title
Game. No TV for this game, so tune in to
910 AM for my weekly Rattler Report at
6:50 PM and I will tell you how to get
some free tickets to the next game.
Don't
forget, the AFL is on NBC every Sunday.
The
Rattlers quest for a third straight Arena
