| I thought I was staying
ahead of the crowd and that I knew a lot about
drinking water. I even have my Doctor
recommended distiller and I use organic sea salt

Lono’s expertise is
important to those who want to insure that they
and their families have a safe and adequate
supply of drinking water.
The nation’s drinking water crisis revolves
around four main issues:
- Exponential growth in demand has far
exceeded our ability to find suitable new
sources of supply;
- In many parts of the country, existing
supplies are becoming increasingly polluted;
- New understandings about the health
consequences of common water contaminants
are causing people to demand safer water at
their tap;
- Across the nation, aging water treatment
plants and equipment are unable to
adequately guarantee the safety of drinking
water supplies.
Since 9/11, the threat of terrorist attacks on
our nation’s drinking water supplies has added a
new and very troubling dimension to the problem.
Lono is frequently called to engineer treatment
systems for difficult water problems. With his
background in Biochemistry and leading edge
water treatment technology he brings a valuable
perspective to issues involving water.
From Lono's perspective, government is not doing
enough to encourage people to take personal
responsibility for the quality of their water
supplies, nor is it supporting economic reforms
that are necessary for it to do the job it
claims to do. This puts the water consumer
square in the middle of a dilemma.
People who choose not to install a quality water
treatment appliance to filter their tap water
are unknowingly made the subjects of an
experiment to determine which chemicals added to
water are dangerous and which are not. On the
other hand, people who want to be responsible
for the quality of their drinking water become
confused using inadequate information when
trying to decide which water treatment
appliances are best for them.
Lono's book "Don't Drink the Water (without
reading this book)" is part of Lono's ongoing
efforts to help resolve this dilemma. Along with
this website, the responsible consumer can
become aware of the pros and cons of each
technology, how to separate the hype from
reality, and which questions to ask when
purchasing a water treatment system.
