#10 Jaime Cota
QB Tucson Desert Demons - Arizona Football League
2010
The young man is 22 and working to
become a firefighter. He is EMT Certified and
well into his Paramedic Certification process.
He stands 6'1 and weighs in at 200 pounds but
the magic is in his eyes. He sees the open
receiver and has a Dan Marino quick release pass
that makes DB's look like statues.
Jaime Cota played his prep ball at an Arizona
high school know for top, tough athletes.
Sunnyside, the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils are
are famous for a wrestling program that has been
one of the best in the history of the AIA,
Arizona Interscholastic Association
Jaime played at Sunnyside from 2001-2004.
During his senior season he had four 300 yard
games and threw for 24 touchdowns. He was a
pre-season All West Coast selection and was
first team All State. As a junior he was second
team All State. He was at Spring ball at the
University of Arizona for the PAC-10 Wildcats.
They had him working out at the receiver
position. Being a walk on the expense and family
obligations took it's toll and even though his
position coach wanted him to stay, he had to go.
Jaime is hoping to catch on at another
college, he was recruited as a dual threat as a
QB/WR. He could then pursue his degree and play
the sport he love. In talking to the Demons Head
Coach JD Acord it becomes clear Jaime is well
prepared to help a program. Tucson Desert Demons
co-owner and GM Amber Martinez is certain Jaime
Cota would be the perfect guy for a college
team. She says "He works hard, knows his stuff
and can lead a team.
We will be following Mr. Cota as he starts on
his journey and keep you updated. His on
air interview can be found online soon at ASPN
