Welcome to the Southwest Stampede's official website! In only our second year of playing in the AZFL, we are already a force to be reckoned with! Winning the Sonoran Division in 2007, the Stampede are determined to take it a step further in 2008, by making it to the championship game. "The key to the defensive success is our ability to swarm to the ball quickly.  Every man works as one unit out there and we communicate well," says Arturo Monroy, defensive captain for the Stampede. A combination of returning players and a few new faces this year, make the Stampede defense a force to be reckoned with.

Offensively, the Stampede have the ability to score from literally anywhere.  "Our team has much more chemistry this year.  Our running game is now as big as a threat as our passing game.  We also have coaches this year, which helps us get better organized," says Gene Garcia, quarterback for the Stampede.  An obvious key to the Stampede's offense is the powerful running game produced by a bigger, faster line.  "Our guys feel a sense of accomplishment when we have a big play.  We take pride in huge gains by running, or passing the ball.  It's nice getting complimented by the whole team after every series," says veteran lineman, Louie Cadriel.  So far in two games, Gene Garcia has already thrown for over 6 touchdowns, which he gives credit to good protection and sure-handed wide receivers.  There is one thing that can be certain; this is not the same team that played last year.  The Southwest Stampede are playing as a team with nothing to lose and that isn't good news for opposing teams.  Throughout this, however, they play with class.  SW Stampede 2008 motto: "We don't talk, we hit!"
